Coles case study
The need
Our solution
Our design team reviewed the packaging and ascertained a need to redesign the shape to ensure the natural go to position for consumers to pick up the package was further to the bottom, making sure the cookies made it into the customer’s basket without opening. This redesign was also part of our team presenting a uniform approach across other Coles products. We also reviewed the thickness of the PET and further optimised it to ensure it was strong enough to make it home in the consumer’s shopping bag, whilst at the same time not over-engineering for longevity, therefore reducing the packaging material input.
The outcome
Because of smart packaging design, millions of people have changed the way they pick up cookies off the shelf from Coles. This has also contributed to decreased product wastage and satisfied customers.
Country Chef case study
The need
Country Chef are an Australian owned bakery that produce some of the most delicious bakery products in Australia. The launch of their cupcake range had to ensure the cupcakes were stable within the packaging and were able to pass the “upside down test”. If the cupckae icing is smudged against the clamshell lid, customers typically reach for an alternative, resulting in lost sales and waste and mark- downs for the stores.
Our solution
Design the packaging to ensure the cupcakes were positioned firmly in the bottom of the clamshell, even when turned upside down they held in-place preventing any damage. Vacupack’s design provided stability without adding additional layers of plastic, like others in the market, becoming a benchmark of good design and ensuring a clearer view of the true star of the show – the cupcakes!
The outcome
The Country Chef Cupcake range looked excellent on-shelf, delivering a strong presence in-store and was a support to drive customer trial and repeat purchase. But most importantly, happy customers!
