Interning at Vacupack has changed my perspective on manufacturing plants as a whole. Over three months, I had the chance to get to know the genuinely kind people there and study the daily challenges of thermoforming and injection moulding processes up close.
Thanks to the generosity of Jesse, Cindy, Sanchi, Sri, Ximena and Adam, I came to understand what it actually takes to drive constant, incremental efficiency improvements on a manufacturing floor. Thanks for giving me much-needed direction in my career, the internship was truly a blast and a half. This company will always have a special place in my heart, and I’ll miss turning up every day to the always-smiling staff at Vacupack. Walking out on my last day was much harder than I expected.

My internship at Vacupack has been an incredibly rewarding and valuable experience, one that I’ll genuinely carry with me going forward. From the very start, I was welcomed into a supportive and professional environment where I felt encouraged to ask questions, learn, and grow.

They didn’t just tell me what to do they took the time to explain the reasoning behind things, and their mentorship helped me build both my technical knowledge and my confidence.

She was always available to answer my questions, help me navigate challenges, and make sure I felt confident in my role. Having someone so consistently present and approachable made a real difference in how smoothly this experience went for me.
Beyond the day-to-day support, I was given real opportunities to contribute meaningfully, including through the Kaizen projects I worked on, rather than simply observing from the sidelines. This helped me develop practical problem-solving and critical thinking skills and gave me a genuine understanding of how a real workplace operates.
I’m sincerely grateful to everyone at Vacupack who welcomed me, answered my questions, and treated me like part of the team. This internship has helped me grow both professionally and personally, and I’ll take these lessons with me as I move forward in my career.

My experience at Vacupack as a technical intern was mainly positive, the work environment was extremely welcoming, the people were very caring and overall it was the best place I have worked at. The role itself was eye opening, I was able to expand my skills in engineering design and grow my confidence in a professional setting. The most apparent and significant skill I learnt was communication between myself and upper management when it came to design choices and ideas, at the beginning I did not understand the importance of this dynamic but I do now. Vacupack’s commitment to continuous improvement through kaizen is undoubtedly why the work environment is outstanding and it allows any person, no matter position or status, to voice an opinion or give an idea that is actually considered. Nothing is without drawbacks, my only criticism was the resource management and its effect on my ability to integrate my work within the Vacupack system, I was unable at times to access software or manufacturing tools for prolonged periods of time and resorted to using personal tools and software which reduced my productivity at times. Vacupack is a wonderful place to work and the internship program is something that I consider a necessity in the current job market as it allows growth and development for the next generation of engineers when opportunities can often feel scarce.

I had one of the most transformative internship experiences at Vacupack. The internship itself covered a lot, daily quality and GMP audits, label audits, seeing Kaizen projects through from start to finish. I was able to progress from just knowing the theory behind quality assurance to actually making and understanding the judgement calls that need to be made in an FMCG environment. I’d say the work alone was worth the internship experience. 

If I’m being entirely honest, what I’ll actually remember most about Vacupack is the people. The tool setters never made me feel like I was being a bother when I asked them how the machines work, the QCs took the time to explain why some defects were fine and others weren’t instead of waving me off, and any time I needed some time or something from another department, people just helped. That kind of culture is rare and was so encouraging to be a part of.  

At Vacupack, everyone’s opinion was equally worth hearing out, no matter their job title. Everyone feels valued and heard, and that was tangible when speaking to different functions of the business across the board. I came in expecting to just expand my experience within QA and continuous improvement, however I’ve also walked away with a deeper perspective on what a good workplace actually looks and feels like.

I didn’t expect to leave an internship in tears — but here I am. Not tears of relief, but tears of gratitude, growth, and the realisation that some experiences quietly change how you see your future.

I recently completed my internship as a Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Intern at Vacupack, and from day one, it felt special.

Vacupack does not just speak about excellence. You see it in its standards, people, systems, and the recognition proudly displayed across its walls. Being trusted to contribute to that standard, even as an intern, was a privilege I did not take lightly.

In this role, I was not observing from the sidelines. I was involved in GMP inspections, internal audits, documentation review, quality checks, Kaizen initiatives, and production-floor monitoring. I learned to see the production floor not just as a set of tasks, but as a living system where every person, process, and detail matters.

What stood out most was Vacupack’s culture.

The gap between the office and the factory floor simply does not exist here. Operators are heard, respected, and trusted. Their observations become Kaizen actions. Their daily challenges become opportunities for improvement. That kind of culture is built through leadership, intention, and genuine respect for people.

Thank you for investing in me with so much patience, care, and purpose. You did not just teach me how to complete tasks. You helped shape the graduate and professional I want to become.

Thank you also to Jesse Choeun, Kaizen Officer, for showing me how powerful continuous improvement can be. A small change, made with intention, can create a meaningful impact.

And to Ali Tavazoei, General Manager, thank you for the words you shared during my exit interview. Being told that I was one of the rare interns you had encountered, understood complex systems, and showed leadership qualities is something I will carry for a long time.

Those words made me proud, but more importantly, responsible to keep growing, learning, and bringing that same care and curiosity into every space I enter next.

To Adam Farhat, Pema Deki, Kiruja, Vinod, Alvin, Lian, Peng, Nazia and everyone who welcomed me onto the floor every day, thank you for your kindness, patience, and guidance. You made me feel like I truly belonged.

My internship at Vacupack was a valuable experience that gave me the opportunity to apply what I had learned at university in a real manufacturing environment.

Throughout my internship, I was able to work closely with engineers and operators and gain hands-on experience with troubleshooting production equipment, analysing machine and production data, developing SOPs and troubleshooting guides, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. I also had the opportunity to explore ways of improving how machine breakdown information is recorded and accessed, including the idea of a future AI-based kiosk to make troubleshooting information easier for operators to find.

What I enjoyed most about the internship was being given the opportunity to work on real problems and take responsibility for my own work. It helped me understand that engineering in a manufacturing environment is not just about finding a technical solution, but also considering production requirements, quality, downtime, safety and the people who use the equipment every day.

I’m very grateful to Ali Tavazoei and the entire Vacupack team for their guidance, support and willingness to share their knowledge with me. Everyone was welcoming and gave me the opportunity to ask questions, learn from their experience and contribute to meaningful work.

I would definitely recommend the internship to future students who want to gain practical engineering experience and understand what working in a real manufacturing environment is like. It was an experience that helped me develop both my technical skills and my confidence as an engineer.

I officially completed my Work Experience Practicum and finished my internship at Vacupack Pty Ltd.

This experience was an important milestone in my food science journey, giving me the opportunity to apply HACCP, GMP and FSSC 22000 concepts in real industry practice. Throughout this placement, I was involved in GMP audits, label verification, traceability checks, SOP updates and Cl tasks, which strengthened both my technical and professional capability.

I am very grateful to Vacupack, Pema Deki, Cindy León, and Ali Tavazoei and the entire QA team for their support, mentorship and guidance throughout this internship. Every day was a learning opportunity, and I genuinely appreciate the trust and responsibility given to me as a student intern. Throughout my time as a design intern at Vacupack I was able to gain valuable hands on experience that you can’t learn from school or uni alone. 

Working under Adam Farhat’s guidance allowed me to learn how to manage a self-driven project by connecting with people who could assist me in areas I was lacking and improve my organisational skills. Additionally, I discovered how much more thorough you need to be when it comes to working in a real company, as many jobs different people do all tie together to ensure a smooth workflow in a company.

I recently wrapped up my internship at Vacupack as a Robotics Continuous Improvement Intern, and I’m walking away with a much deeper appreciation for what real manufacturing environments look like.

Over the past few months, I had the chance to work alongside an experienced team and get hands-on with:

• Troubleshooting production and automation-related issues

• Analysing production data to identify improvement opportunities

• Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency  and efficiency

• Building Python tools to automate production data processing and reporting

• Seeing firsthand how continuous improvement principles are applied in a high-volume manufacturing setting

Beyond the technical skills, this experience taught me just as much about teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail — lessons that don’t always show up on a resume but matter just as much in industry.

A special thank you to Ali Tavazoei for the opportunity, guidance, and support throughout my internship, and to everyone at Vacupack for being so welcoming and generous with their knowledge. It’s been an unforgettable learning experience.

As I continue my Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering studies at Monash University, I’m excited to bring these experiences into future projects and keep growing as an engineer.
